“From Blumhouse Productions comes the “darker, freakier, better” (Daily Beast) TV series. During a 12-hour period when all crime — including murder — is legal, a group of seemingly unrelated characters cross paths in a city in an altered America. While the clock winds down, some will fight, some will hide, others will embrace what it means to Purge to its fullest extent—whether for revenge, personal gain, protection, or unadulterated glee. As each character is forced to reckon with their past and plot how to better their futures, they soon discover how far they will go on Purge Night. Dive deep into the psyche of the Purgers with Season 1 of the series that critics rave is “bloody good fun” (AV Club).”

[Black Friday 2018] All the Best Horror Movie Deals You’ll Find at Walmart and Target

If you want to bulk up your horror movie collection, you’ll probably want to hit up Best Buy later this week, as they’ve got a ton of DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD releases for really great prices on Black Friday. The great thing about Best Buy is that their Black Friday ad shows *all* of the titles that’ll be on sale, which is something that Walmart and Target do not do.

In the Black Friday ads for Walmart and Target, you’ll find only small selections of their sale titles, with many other titles not revealed unless/until you go into your local store on Black Friday. This means that we have no way of putting together complete lists for the two stores, but we did peruse both ads to at least put together small selections of what they’ll have.

Here’s what you can expect…

WALMART

  • $1.96: Jurassic Park DVD, Jurassic World DVD, IT (1990) DVD
  • $3.96: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom DVD
  • $5.96: Rampage Blu-ray, Split Blu-ray, Annihilation DVD
  • $7.96: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Blu-ray
  • $8.96: A Quiet Place Blu-ray, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 4K, Rampage 4K
  • $9.96: The Walking Dead Season 8 DVD

TARGET

  • $4: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom DVD, Jurassic World DVD
  • $9: IT (2017) Blu-ray, Rampage Blu-ray
  • $10: The Walking Dead Season 8 Blu-ray

Again, both Walmart and Target will have many more titles for sale on Black Friday (likely, a handful of them horror), so be sure to check both stores to see what else they’ve got!

Early UK Date Suggests ‘Rabid’ Remake Arriving in March 2019

Amazon UK lists March 25, 2019, as the Blu-ray release date for Jen and Sylvia Soska‘s remake of David Cronenberg’s 1977 film Rabid. Scream Factory is infecting audiences here in the States and we’ll report the official release strategy when announced.

Laura Vandervoort (Jigsaw) stars as Rose, a demure seamstress who goes through a radical transformation after electing for plastic surgery following a disfiguring accident.

Ben Hollingsworth also stars as “Brad”, a fashion photographer with Hanneke Talbot (“Playing Dead”) portraying Rose’s best friend Chelsea; and Mackenzie Gray (“Legion”, “Riverdale”) is arrogant fashion designer “Gunter”. Rabid will also feature WWE superstars CM Punk as “Billy” and his wife, New York Times best-selling author AJ Mendez as “Kira”.

Thanks to Fabian M. for the hat tip.

Darren Lynn Bousman’s ‘St. Agatha’ Dated for UK DVD

Signature Entertainment will release Darren Lynn Bousman‘s (Saw II-IVMother’s Day, Abattoir, Repo!) female-led psychological horror film St. Agatha, which premiered at the Overlook Film Festival this past April, on UK DVD February 11, 2019.

In the film:

“Set in the 1950s in small-town Georgia, the film centers on a pregnant con woman named Agatha who is on the run and seeks refuge in a convent. What first starts out as the perfect place to have a child turns into a dark layer where silence is forced, ghastly secrets are masked, and every bit of willpower Agatha has is tested as she learns the sick and twisted truth of the convent and the odd people that lurk inside its halls.”

Sabrina Kern stars as the title character, alongside Carolyn Hennesy, Courtney Halverson, Trin Miller, Lindsay Seim, Hannah Fierman and Seth Michaels.

Andy Demetrio, Shaun Fletcher, Sara Sometti Michaels and Clint Sears wrote the film.

Our very own Meagan Navarro loved it, explaining that it “revives nunsploitation with nerve-fraying results.”

A limited theatrical release is planned alongside VOD here in the States via Uncork’d Entertainment.

Exclusive ‘The Quake’ Clip Shakes Up a Building

From the producers of The Wave comes the John Andreas Andersen-directed The Quake, which shakes its way into limited theaters, On Demand, iTunes and Amazon Prime Video December 14, 2018. Bloody Disgusting has this exclusive clip in which a woman runs into a building in the middle of a massive earthquake.

“In 1904 an earthquake with a 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale shook Oslo. Its epicenter was in the Oslo Rift which runs directly through the Norwegian capital. There are recorded quakes from the rift on a daily basis and geologists cannot be sure, but arguments indicate that we can expect major future earthquakes in this area. When – nobody can say for certain – but we know that the density of people and infrastructure in Oslo is significantly more vulnerable today than in 1904.”

Rafael already reviewed the film, which is said to be a spiritual follow-up to The Wave and inspired by a 1904 earthquake in Oslo.
