Jordan Peele In Talks to Remake Clive Barker’s CANDYMAN

One of the very best horror flicks of the 90’s is director Bernard Rose’s adaptation of Clive Barker’s “The Forgotten” aka Candyman. I’ve said it a million times, but any day now we can all expect news of a remake heading our way, and low and behold, that day is today.

Our buddies over at Bloody Disgusting claim that none other than Jordan Peele is in talks to remake Clive Barker’s classic supernatural slasher flick. That’s all we know at this time — that there’s “talks” of Peele taking on the remake in some form. We’ll let you know when we hear more.

Until then, make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think of Jordan Peele’s Candyman in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Synopsis:

Skeptical graduate student Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) befriends Anne-Marie McCoy (Vanessa Williams) while researching superstitions in a housing project on Chicago’s Near North Side. From Anne-Marie, Helen learns about the Candyman (Tony Todd), a knife-wielding figure of urban legend that some of her neighbors believe to be responsible for a recent murder. After a mysterious man matching the Candyman’s description begins stalking her, Helen comes to fear that the legend may be all too real.

Just How Scary Will ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK Be?

Gary Dauberman

One of the films I can’t help but look forward to is screenwriter Gary Dauberman’s (The Nun, IT) adaptation of the Snick’s kid horror anthology series Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

And if you’re as excited as I am, then today you’ll get a kick out of knowing Dauberman plans to keep the film as scary as possible.

Dauberman recently spoke with /Film about the movie and said, “That show is so important to me. I didn’t want to age it down too much because for it’s time, it had some really disturbing episodes and some really dark episodes. Not every story the Midnight Society told ended with happily ever after or a person learning their lesson and it will never happen again. I really embraced that side of things and I think it’s been a long time. I think fear is healthy for kids. I don’t think we have to always sand down the edges of things and that’s something I really wanted to do with Are You Afraid of the Dark. I think it is scary and I think kids will be scared watching it at times, and also they’ll laugh at times. I think it’s got a great message. I think it’s got a great heart to it but it is still scary. I think that’s great. I think it’s going to open it up to a wider audience.”

He continued on to say, “It is a completely original story I came up with, but it still has the Midnight Society and it still has the campfire. It’s still a story being told.”

And finally, “I have an eight-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter. It’s interesting watching them develop that sense of is it too scary for me or is it not? That’s a lesson that we need to apply to the real world. If kids can’t learn that in the safety of their own homes trying to push the boundaries of what’s scary, what isn’t, what’s safe, what isn’t, then it’s a lot more difficult out there in the real world. I think there are those lessons that are taught by horror movies. I think we got a lot more of that when I was growing up. Somewhere along the lines, it started to become a little too sanitized.”

Are you excited for this adaptation? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

The adaptation has locked down a release date of October 11, 2019.

Netflix Wants Teen Horror Flick POLAROID

Lars Klevberg’s (Child’s Play remake) Polaroid was formerly a Dimension release, but after the Weinstein Company (rightfully) went under the film was left on the shelf. But Deadline reports that may all be changing soon as Netflix is trying to get their hands on the teen horror film.

Originally, TWC had plans to release the film for Thanksgiving last year, but by Halloween, TWC had pulled the film altogether.

Would you be excited to peep this teen horror film on Netflix? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Polaroid is directed by Lars Klevberg from a screenplay by Blair Butler. The film stars Kathryn Prescott, Mitch Pileggi, Grace Zabriskie, Tyler Young, Keenan Tracey, Samantha Logan, Priscilla Quintana, and Javier Botet.

We’ll let you know if this deal… wait for it… develops.

Synopsis:

Polaroid follows high school loner Bird Fischer, who has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious vintage Polaroid camera she stumbles upon. But it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.
