‘Stranger Things 3: The Game’ Announced at Game Awards 2018

Stranger Things is well-known for promoting 80s nostalgia among those who lived through the decade (and those who wish they did) that brought us Dungeons & Dragons, ET, and coin-operated video games.  Further channeling this mania, creators Matt and Ross Duffer announced a game tie-in for the upcoming third season of Netflix’s hit show at the Game Awards 2018 on Thursday.

Though the Duffer brothers didn’t reveal much about what can be expected from the game, they did say it’s a classic 16-bit inspired game that takes place during the third season.  There is currently no release date for the game or what platforms the game will be featured on, but look for more information to be announced before Stranger Things Season Three debuts next summer.

Check out the trailer below from the official @NXOnNetflix page.

Underworld Ascendant – video game

Underworld Ascendant is a 2018 first-person action role-playing video game developed by Paul Neurath at Otherside Entertainment and published by 505 Games. It is the sequel to Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss and Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds.

Players assume the role of the Avatar, as they return to the Stygian Abyss. As in the original games, there is an emphasis on non-linear progression, simulated systems, and emergent gameplay.

The Stygian Abyss is inhabited by three factions vying for its control, Dark Elves, Dwarves and Shamblers. The player can also encounter non-player characters of no factional alignment. Supporting any faction will affect the balance of power in the Abyss, and how factions react to the player

Underworld Ascendant is scheduled for release on Steam for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux on November 15, 2018.

We Unbox Aksys Games’ DEATH MARK: LIMITED EDITION

The horror Manga-inspired game Death Mark is a terrifying entry in the “search and survive” mode, plunging the player into a race against time to solve the riddle of “The Mark”, a blood-red imprint which, when it appears on your body, signifies your impending doom unless you can find a way to stop the demonic forces which are now stalking your every move.

It’s also not enough to simply get the right clues to the mystery; you have to use your acquired knowledge in exactly the right way… or you’re due for dismemberment!

(Remember what happened when they thought they’d solved the riddle of The Ring? They were wrong too…but their fates were merciful compared to yours if you guess wrong.)

In the above video, game guru Joe Hui graciously agreed to sit down with this mysteriously macabre package and reveal its contents for your enjoyment… and he even broke the “OPEN AT YOUR OWN RISK” seal on the gorgeous but often terrifying hard-bound book of artwork and game/character designs.

We’re not quite sure that gazing upon images of the horrific demons populating this game will result in Joe bearing the fatal “Mark” himself… but don’t worry, we’ll keep a close eye on him!

If you’re up to the challenge (and are willing to risk your life, sanity, and very soul), you can pick up the Death Mark Limited Edition set (as well as the standard edition) for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch!

Check it out at the Aksys Games web store!

Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game

Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game is a role-playing survival horror video game developed by Cyanide and published by Focus Home Interactive for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.

The game features a semi-open world environment and will incorporate themes of Lovecraftian and psychological horror into a story which includes elements of investigation and stealth. It is inspired by H. P. Lovecraft‘s short story ‘The Call of Cthulhu’, while also being an adaptation of the 1981 role-playing game of the same title.

The game follows investigator Edward Pierce who is a private detective in an existential crisis. As the Boston of 1924 doesn’t provide him with any cases, the war veteran flees into consuming alcohol and pills.

However, there is a glimmer of hope when a mysterious case one day lands on his desk. The detective is asked to solve the death of the Hawkins family, who mysteriously died in a fire.

As the only clue is a strange picture painted by the supposedly crazy mother shortly before her death, Edward has to set out to Darkwater Island near Boston, Massachusetts to find out more about the matter and discovers the impending revival of the Great Old One Cthulhu…

The game is released on October 30, 2018 with a Nintendo Switch release possible in early 2019.

Conspiracy Child – Everyone Loves A Good Conspiracy!

So this press release and poster appeared in The MOnster’s in-box today. Mysterious much???

Conspiracy Child

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Conspiracy Child : A psychological thriller that crosses the boundaries of horror, fantasy, sci-fi and more is slated to begin filming in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 30th.

The majority of the project will be filmed in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, while utilizing all of the areas in between. With a budget of over $70 million, things look to heat up in the desert.

According to sources close to the project, “this is more than just another movie.” Apparently, this movie is being dubbed in nine languages and being distributed around the world for theatrical release.

Sources also say that they are working on a video game, comic books and more to accompany the two hour feature film. They also say that they will be working on a six hour mini-series and a second feature film of the same story early next summer.

“This isn’t like most movies Hollywood is putting out. It’s a totally new storyline that will make people question their beliefs, religions and the government.”

We don’t know what the future holds for Conspiracy Child, but from the sounds of it this is going to change the way movies are made.
