New HALLOWEEN Featurette Reunites Jamie Lee & John Carpenter

In a new featurette for Blumhouse’s Halloween, franchise mastermind John Carpenter heaps praise on Jamie Lee Curtis; he also says the upcoming reboot is the best movie since the original, released 40 years ago in 1978. The video also includes Curtis talking about what makes Michael Myers so scary, and what fans can expect when Halloween slashes into US theaters on October 19th.

You can give the featurette a spin at the bottom of the article, along with the film’s synopsis and most recent trailer.

It’s been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. She now faces a terrifying showdown when Michael returns to Haddonfield, Ill. — but this time, Laurie is ready for him.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Master of horror John Carpenter executive produces and serves as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity).  Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

Halloween is also produced by Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the Halloween series since its inception, and Bill Block (Elysium, District 9).  In addition to Carpenter and Curtis, Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.  Ryan Freimann also serves in that role.

Bill & Ted & Hitler? It Was Almost a Much Less EXCELLENT ADVENTURE

While the fate of Bill & Ted Face the Music, a proposed third chapter in the Excellent franchise launched in 1989, is still up in the air, there’s no denying that fans are excited by the prospect of getting the band back together (that band being Wyld Stallyns, of course). But things might have gone much differently had an original idea for Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure made it into the final product. In fact, it could have been totally bogus!

Recently, Bill & Ted’s co-scribe Ed Solomon shared some early production notes from way back in 1984, revealing that he and collaborator Chris Matheson considered sending the excellent dudes to Nazi Germany in order to kidnap Hitler for their history final. While the over-the-top nature of the film might have been enough to overshadow any perceived political incorrectness, I doubt Excellent Adventure would still be considered a classic if old Adolf had been a featured character!

Ultimately, the duo scrapped the idea—kind of: They replaced Hitler with Napoleon! Considering actor Terry Camilleri did a bang-up job in the role, I think we can all agree it was for the best!

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure was followed by Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey in 1991. Word that production on Bill & Ted Face the Music began in June were followed by reports that the project had stalled in July. We’ll keep our ears to the ground in order to keep you up to date as details emerge. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, you can revisit the original trailer and synopsis for Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, starring Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, and George Carlin, below.

Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are high school buddies starting a band. However, they are about to fail their history class, which means Ted would be sent to military school. They receive help from Rufus (George Carlin), a traveler from a future where their band is the foundation for a perfect society. With the use of Rufus’ time machine, Bill and Ted travel to various points in history, returning with important figures to help them complete their final history presentation.

Are you a fan of the Bill & Ted movies? What do you think about the revelation that the original script had a Hitler subplot? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Boaz Yakin Takes Us Inside ‘Boarding School’

In the grand scheme of things, Boaz Yakin is hardly new to the horror game. Once upon a time, he was partners with Eli Roth and Scott Spiegel at Raw Nerve Productions. The company was responsible for the birth of the Hostel franchise, and had a hand in bringing the Robert Englund and Lin Shaye led […]
