‘Lords of Chaos’ Clip Burns Down a Church to Promote Expanded Release This Weekend [Exclusive]

Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive clip from Jonas Åkerlund‘s Sundance drama Lords of Chaos, which shows the band Mayhem celebrating one of their many publicity stunts… burning down a church. Chilling ‘Greta’ Clips Put Chloë Moretz in Danger of Isabelle Huppert’s Obsession [Video]

After having its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Neil Jordan (The Crying Game) will see his thriller Greta hit theaters March 1, 2019, from Focus Features.

We now have two clips from the film in which a young woman (Chloë Grace Moretz) befriends a lonely widow (Isabelle Huppert) who ends up being psycho. In the first clip, Moretz’s character stumbles upon a series of handbags that Huppert’s character has been using to lure young women into her home. The other (shared at the bottom of the article) takes place in a restaurant where Moretz’s character works and Huppert’s character verbally assaults her in front of everyone.

In the film…

“A sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, Frances (Moretz) doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta (Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems.”

Joe Lipsett reviewed the film out of its premiere at TIFF and said that it “falters by falling somewhere between thriller and high camp.

Yes, That Really is Peter Weller in Those KFC ‘RoboCop’ Commercials

Yesterday, your social media feeds were probably dominated by people talking about KFC’s bizarre “Colonel RoboCop” advertisements, a new series of commercials that use the crime-fighting pop culture icon as the fast food chain’s latest mascot. The idea is that KFC has enlisted the help of RoboCop to protect their Secret Recipe, and not everyone is a fan.

As many noticed, “Colonel RoboCop” sure seemed to have been voiced by Peter Weller himself, who of course played the character in the original franchise. And indeed, Slash Film has confirmed that yes, that is Weller’s voice you’re hearing! Weller reprised the role for the commercials, and it’s *possible* that’s even Weller inside the iconic suit.

We have no comment on that,” Weller’s agent told the site, when they asked if the actor was physically on set and inside the RoboCop suit. So yeah. We’ll pretend it’s him.

Recently, Neill Blomkamp had noted that he wants to bring Weller back for the RoboCop sequel he’s currently working on, and if he came back for KFC, well, there’s hope for that!

In case you missed them, you can watch the “Colonel RoboCop” commercials below.

Gallery: I AM LEGEND Almost Had a Different Director–And a Much More Terrifying Look

Like most horror fans, I have a sort of love/hate
relationship with 2007’s I Am Legend. Directed by Francis
Lawrence and based on the novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, it
arrived at the height of the great zombie resurgence of the 2010s. It obviously
had a huge budget, but Will Smith is only charming until he’s insufferable and
no one liked those CGI creepers.

It turns out, I Am Legend almost had a different
director—and a much darker aesthetic. Before zombies were all the rage (1997),
Ridley Scott was attached to direct I Am Legend for Warner Bros. with Arnold
Schwarzenegger on board to play Robert Neville. Best of all Alec Gillis of
StudioADI was on board to create some seriously terrifying (practical) zombies,
some that put the ones in Lawrence’s film to shame.

We know this because Gillis shared concept appliances and
makeup tests he’d created for Scott’s I Am Legend with his Instagram
followers—and they’re completely terrifying! Have a look.

Gillis explains:

Ridley Scott’s version of I AM LEGEND was to have starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and featured ‘hemocytes’ realized as makeup characters. I think we did our design exploratory in about 1997 ( is that right @h2originals?) Ridley was influenced by wax figures from the 17th century. We did a test on a single female subject to show her in a few stages of emaciation. The appliance pieces were sculpted by @ryankennethpeterson and Steve Koch and applied by @Tom_woodruffjr, myself and Barry Koper. Shortly after we shot the test at ADI Warner decided not to make the movie. The budget was coming in 10 million higher than desired. It all got shelved until the Francis Lawrence/ Will Smith version years later. We did get an interview on that version but there was next to no interest in makeup fx. Contribbing sculptors were @schellsculpturestudio and Jeff Boccaccio. Tech work helmed by @h2originals. Paint by Mike Larrabee.

What do you think of Alec Gilli’s concept appliances and makeup for Ridley Scott’s unmade I Am Legend? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!

Bruce Dern to Guest Star in the Third Season of “Mr. Mercedes”!

Emmy nominee and two-time Oscar nominee Bruce Dern (The ‘Burbs), who can be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the TIFF sci-fi horror Freaks, has joined the cast of AT&T AUDIENCE Network’s critically acclaimed drama series “Mr. Mercedes” as John Rothstein, a famous and reclusive writer living on the fringes of Bridgton, Ohio.

Based on the Bill Hodges trilogy from prolific author Stephen King, season three of “Mr. Mercedes” will closely follow the story contained in “Finders Keepers,” the second book of the series, and continue to explore the fallout from the massacre perpetrated by Brady Hartsfield.

The second season of “Mr. Mercedes” took place a year after Brady Hartsfield’s (Harry Treadaway) thwarted attempt to perpetrate a second mass murder in the community of Bridgton, Ohio. Since the incident, Hartsfield had been hospitalized in a vegetative state. Retired Detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) did his best to move on from his Brady obsession, teaming up with Holly Gibney (Justine Lupe) to open Finders Keepers, a private investigative agency. But when unexplainable occurrences began to affect hospital staff members attending to Brady, Hodges was haunted by the feeling that Brady was somehow responsible.

“David E. Kelley returns to oversee the writer’s room with Jack Bender directing.

Filming on “Mr. Mercedes“ is currently underway in Charleston, South Carolina.

Sony Caused the Delay of the Slender Man-esque ‘Flay’

Last March, it was announced that Eric Pham‘s horror fantasy Flay had been delayed indefinitely… the day it was to be released through Phame Factory. Deadline has discovered why, reporting that Sony served the indie with a cease-and-desist order to stop the release of Flay as it claimed that it was a rip-off of the Slender Man character, which it had the exclusive rights to.

However, Phame Factory filed a lawsuit in July seeking a judgment that its promotion and distribution of Flay didn’t infringe Sony’s copyrights. Deadline says they have now won the right to release the film and have also reached an agreement with Sony, albeit with a disclaimer on advertising materials, trailers and the movie itself.

It will now be distributed digitally on April 2, 2019, eight months after the release of Sony’s own Joey King-fronted Slender Man, which recorded a global box office of over $50M.

Pham, who is known for his special effects work on Grindhouse and Sin City directs a cast including Violett Beane (The Flash) and Phantasm star A. Michael Baldwin. Elle LaMont (Alita: Battle Angel, Machete Kills), Dalton Gray (Lazer Team, Dumber and Dumber To), Johnny Walter, Aaron Spivey-Sorrells, Peggy Schott, Kaylee King and Noe de la Garza also star.

The story follows an estranged daughter who, after the death of her mother, struggles to save her brother and those around her from a malevolent faceless spirit.

“I’ve always been fascinated with ghost stories and the mythologies behind ghosts and spirits,” said Pham to Deadline when announced. “I see Flay as a contemporary mashup of the Japanese legend of the Noppera-bo, or faceless ghost, and Native American legends.”
